First Look at Motorola Droid X from Verizon

Verizon will be releasing its phone from Motorola called Droid X. It seems to be a counterpart of the iPhone 4. Remember that there is no iPhone that had been released specifically for use of Verizon, thus Verizon have sourced out from Motorola.

The new phone is definitely larger than the HTC Evo 4G and the HTC HD2. All of the three however have the same screen size of 4.3-inch display. The Motorola Droid X will also be powered by the latest Android OS and a 1GHz CPU.

Once released the phone will be available through Verizon and will cost around $199 with a postpaid contract. Reading by the specs of the new phone, it definitely is better than the new iPhone though the size is way way larger. Among the features of the Droid X includes an 8-megapixel camera with 720p HD video 16:9 image image capture, image stabilization and a mechanical shutter that snaps up to 1/1,000th of a second..

When it comes to connecting online the phone will have the 3G Mobile Hotspot, This feature will allow you to use 3G connectivity to be shared over WiFi (similar to JoikuSpot on the S60). However, the sad part is that you have to payt for this feature at $20 extra per month with a 2GB cap.

Here are some of the features of Motorola Droid X:

  • 4.3-inch display @ 854×480 pixels
  • 1GHz Texas Instrument OMAP processor
  • 8GB internal storage
  • up to 32GB via microSD (16GB included)
  • 8MP camera w/ dual-LED flash
  • HD video recording
  • HDMI port
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA
  • Mobile 3G WiFi Hotspot
