Policing Executive Forum held with the Nigeria Police

The CLEEN Foundation in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (Force Headquarters), Ministry of Police Affairs, the Police Service Commission and the Mac-Arthur Foundation is organizing a three day Policing Executive Forum (First Edition Police Bi-Annual Conference)
"The Biannual Policing Executive Forum was conceived to enhance coordination and cooperation among key actors/players in Police Reform in Nigeria in responding to priority issues in police and policing in the country and periodically brings together leadership of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force to synergize efforts in improving citizens safety and security in the country. The first edition of the forum will hold from May 7-9, 201o at the Hydro Hotels,Tunga, Minna, Niger State .'

The theme of the first edition of the conference is Ensuring Effective Accountability Framework within the Nigeria Police Force with the following sub topics:

-Enhancing Police accountability Systems in Nigeria: The Missing Links;
-Historical Reflections on Internal Control Systems in the Nigeria Police Force;

-The role of Management and Supervision Systems in Enhancing Police Accountability

-Oversight Agencies and Effectiveness of Police Accountability System in Nigeria: A Critical Reflection

Participants and lead discussants of the different sessions at the conference would be drawn from Academicians (Criminologists, Deputy Inspector Generals’ of the Nigeria Police Force, Senior Staff from the Ministry of Police Affairs, Police Service Commission and Centre for Management Development (CMD). The Inspector General of Nigeria Police Force Ogbonna Onovo, Parry Osanyande (DIG Rtd), Chairman Police Service Commission and the Niger State Governor would be among the dignitaries in attendance at the conference.

CLEEN Foundation was founded in January 1998 to promote public safety, security and accessible justice through empirical research, legislative advocacy, demonstration programmes and publications, in partnership with government and civil society.
