There is a circulating news in social media platforms that due to the upcoming holidays and projected influx of travel and people, there will be a Nationwide lock down or ECQ this December.  Is it true? Should we begin preparing for this immanent lock down once more?

Fake News on Lock Down is Circulating

According to a fact check made by Rappler the claim that, "he Philippine government will impose a nationwide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) – the strictest lockdown status – from December 23, 2020, until January 3, 2021, amid the coronavirus pandemic," is false.

This fakes news being spread through text messages and social media had already been categorically dismissed by government officials as well.  Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, and National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 spokesperson Restituto Padilla Jr all dismissed the rumors.

Current Quarantine Status in the Philippines

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier placed Metro Manila, Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan, and Davao City under general community quarantine (GCQ) until the end of December.
