Sinag Maynila 2017 Winners and Film Trailers

It was another year of resounding success for the SINAG MAYNILA FILM FESTIVAL as they concluded their annual Gabi ng Parangal, March 12.  It was held at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in BGC Taguig and hosted by by Cerah Hernandez and Andre Co, with entertainment provided by Ballet Manila Philippines.

Solar Pictures and Jurors in full force

Solar Pictures is in full force for this independent film festival as seen by the attendance of its General Manager, Butch Ibanez.  The jurors who deliberated for the winners of Sinag Maynila 2017 were also present including: FDCP Chairperson Liza Dino-Seguerra, Filipino film critic Oggs Cruz, and French film critic Max Tessier, who judged the Full Length category, and director Paul Soriano, who judged the Shorts and Documentary finalists.

The jurrors served as presenters and was joined on stage by Solar Pictures General Manager Butch Ibanez, Walking Street director and actress Sang Woo Lee and Lee Song Lee, and the director and producer of Sinag Maynila 2016 Best Picture, Mrs., Adolf Alix, Jr. and Lou Gopez, respectively.

  • Best Picture: "TU PUG IMATUY"
  • Best Director: ARBI BARBARONA – "Tu Pug Imatuy”
  • Best Actor: KRISTOFER KING - “Kristo” and RAYMOND FRANCISCO - “Bhoy Intsik”
  • Best Actress: MALONA SULATAN - “Tu Pug Imatuy”
  • Best Supporting Performance: JULIO DIAZ - “Kristo”
  • Best Production Design: JAMES ARVIN ROSENDAL - “Kristo”
  • Best Screenplay: ARNEL MARDOQUIO - “Tu Pug Imatuy”
  • Best Cinematography: BRYAN JIMENEZ & ARBI BARBARONA - “Tu Pug Imatuy”
  • Best Musical Score: ARBI BARBARONA - “Tu Pug Imatuy”
  • Best Sound: ALBERT MICHAEL IDIOMA - “Kristo”
  • Best Editing: DIEGO MARX DOBLES - “Kristo”
It is just a pity that not all Filipinos are willing to watch films like this.  We have films that are really very relevant and deserve to be given the chance to be recognized.  We hope that malls and cinemas will give them more help and support so that the viewing public will realize its importance.
