TAKLUB Movie Review: Nora Aunor stars in a post Yolanda Film

Nora Aunor, Julio Diaz, Aaron Rivera and Lou Veloso stars in Taklub, a post Typhoon Yolanda movie that depicts the struggles after the horrific tragedy that killed more than a thousand people.

The film is another signature film of multi-awarded director Brillante Mendoza. It is a reality movie without being too emotional or too politicized. I would say that it is a heavy emotional film but I felt that it stops itself from capitalizing on that angle.

Nora Aunor plays Bebeth, a mother who lost 3 kids and after a year she is yet to see their remains. Julio Diaz plays Larry who believes if h3 has more faith things would be better. Aaron Rivera is Erwin who is a victim of the usual government red tape.

Another star was Lou Veloso who plays Renato, a father who manages to survive Yolanda with his family only to lose them in a manmade tragedy.

Taklub is a must watch movie for it will tell you things that are really important in life. It is a relief from the usual mainstream movie which sensationalizes reality or focuses on fantasy. It will bring you back to the fact that we must all act to help the victims in need be it from Yolanda or other tragedies.

Director Brillante Mendoza talks about Taklub

Mendoza is a brilliant director and in fact Taklub is highly acclaimed and positively commented in Cannes. Would it receive the same treatment when it shows in cinemas beginning September 16? We hope so.
