Innovate, Design, Make a Difference and Win P40,000

Quezon City, Philippines –NCAF, TYF and UP IEC launch the Indigenous Engineering (Indie Eng’g) idea generation contest as part of the iamninoy-iamcory campaign.
Open to secondary- and tertiary-level students and out-of-school youth groups, Indie Eng’g challenges contestants to submit proposals applying Industrial Engineering concepts to design a process or product to address problems in their chosen communities. 
“From serving our fellow Filipinos through community development, TYF has been looking for a way to do the same through science & technology, and creativity & innovation, and,” said Fr. Manuel Francisco SJ, Tanging Yaman Foundation Executive Director. “We’re very excited to have found just that in our partnership with UP IE Club for Indie Eng’g.” 
“The contest emphasizes the spirit of people helping people through the application of technology and systems to provide innovative, ecological, and sustainable solutions to problems the Filipino of today faces,” said Mr. Kyle Rosario, UP IEC Project Manager. “In the same way Ninoy Aquino died for his people, Indie Eng’g aims to provide a venue for Filipinos to help other Filipinos live.” 
The Indie Eng’g launch also coincides with NCAF’s celebration of the late Sen. Ninoy Aquino’s eightieth birth anniversary. He would’ve turned eighty years-old last November 30, 2012.
 “Youth involvement is central to the legacy of Ninoy Aquino who as a teenager already lived an active life of service,” said Mr. Rafael C. Lopa, NCAF Executive Director. “Indie Eng’g brings that legacy to life by tapping the youth to come up with innovations in the service of those in need.” 
Bracket A is open to University students, while Bracket B is open to High School Students and Community-Based Youth.  Win as much as Php. 25,000.00 for proposals submitted.
