Senate Committee Confirms Sotomayor, Now Faces Senate Vote

U.S. Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotomayor had now received the confirmation of the Senate Committee on Justice on a near party-line voting with only republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina disagreeing with his Republican colleagues "No" vote.

Senator John McCain who will also vote later on on the confirmation is still undecided on whether to confirm Sotomayor. He says that he is still studying the merits of the nominee.

McCain says he is examining Sotomayor's record as an appeals court judge to decide whether she understands the limits to judicial power. He voted against her when she was nominated to the appeals court.

Sotomayor's nomination is set for a United States Senate Vote within the week.
