Michael Schumacher, the Racing Legend Returns

Michael Schumacher is back! After Schumacher retired in 2006, he intends to finally come out of retirement as a replacement for injured driver Felipe Massa. Schumacher won seven Formula One championships and finally on Wednesday he is back driving in place of Massa, who was badly injured in a freak accident on Saturday.

"I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe," Schumacher said in a statement obtained by CNN.

Massa and Schumacher both race for the same team, Ferrari.

Schumacher must have medical exams and will be in the Ferrari cockpit for the next race, in Spain next month, if those tests go well, his representative Sabine Kehm told CNN.

Massa suffered a skull fracture when he crashed at 200 kpm (138 mph) after being hit in the eye by flying debris from another racer’s car. Doctors say he may never regain full use of that eye, which would end his racing career.
