Discover Hollywood's worst kept secret in Trumbo

Written By David D'Angelo on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 | 2/23/2016

In an era where ideologies matter and communism seems to be a virus, the story of one man will surely inspire many of us.  I had not been very familiar with the time when the United States was said to be suffering from the communist phobia and endless accusation of people had been done. This March 2016 let us be inspired by the story of .Dalton Trumbo

Dalton Trumbo is perhaps one of Hollywood's greatest screenwriter.  He is the man behind the very popular movie Spartacus but little do we know of the hardships that this man has to endure during the height of the Cold War fear in the United States.

Trumbo is an inspirational story about how he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs. The movie is directed by Jay Roach and recounts how Dalton used words and wit to win two Academy Awards and expose the absurdity and injustice of the blacklist, which entangled everyone from gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) to John Wayne, Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.

Cast members includes:
  • Bryan Cranston (Argo, Breaking Bad, Godzilla)
  • Helen Mirren (Red, The Queen, National Treasure: Book of Secrets)
  • Diane Lane (Unfaithful, Man of Steel, Secretariat)
  • Elle Fanning (Maleficent, Super 8, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
  • John Goodman (Argo, The Monuments Men, Flight)
  • Adewale Akkinuoye-Agbaje (Game of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra)
  • Louis C.K. (American Hustle, Parks and Recreation)

"Nobody has the right to tell you how to write, act, pray, speak, vote, protest, love, work, create, live, talk, or think," catch this famous line as you watch an inspiring tale of a man who risked everything to keep his family together.  This is the story of Hollywood's worst kept secret.

Trumbo will be showing in Cinemas in the Philippines on March 16 and rated R13 (Strictly for 13 years of age and up).Solar Pictures releases the film for the Philippine cinema.
