Thousands of Filipino youth uniting for Bangsamoro

Thousands of Filipino youth from different high shools in Manila, Iligan City and Marawi will join hands to understand and unite for a peaceful Mindanao and the Bangsamoro during the Mass Videoconference entitled, "Make History. Begin the Future" on December 5, 2012.  The event is spearheaded by PeaceTech, Inc. in partnership with AusAID, the Department of Education and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

PeaceTech had pioneered an innovation in bridging the gap between people and promoting understanding through its Mass Videoconference (MVC).  On December 5 at MSU-IIT Gymnasium in Iligan City and PUP Gym in Sta. Mesa, Manila thousands of young Muslims and non-Muslims from Mindanao and the NCR will celebrate the launching at a giant Videoconference for the Bangsamoro.  The videoconference on huge screens will be a mass demonstration of former president Corazon Aquino’s ‘people power’ in ways the Philippines has not seen before.

Among the guests during the Mass Videoconference is one of the negotiators for the MILF, Dr. Robert Alonto.  He will also be joined by a representative from the GPH Panekl and young victims of the Mindanao Conflict who support genuine peace.

We first had ‘People Power’when people united in the streets for a better future. Now the new generation is doing itthrough Information Communications Technology throughout our country!” says Robin Pettyfer, Executive Director and Founder of PeaceTech, Inc.

Majority of the high school students are part of the Classroom Videoconference (CVC) Program of PeaceTech, Inc. and AusAID together with the DepED and OPAPP.  The CVC now on its 2nd year is an effective way of reducing prejudice and discrimination among students from different parts of the Philippines.  Currently the CVC involves around 13,000 students.

PeaceTech will also be launching a video campaign to support peace and the Bangsamoro.  The video campaign will not only include the MILF and the government but more importantly is reaching out to all sectors, including the MNLF and other groups including young people.
