Zipper Google Doodle greets Google homepage

What's with the zipper at the Google homepage?  Today, Google presents a Zipper Google Doodle.  The zipper runs across the middle of its hompage right at the middle of the search box.  So what is with the zipper Google Doodle?

This zipper Google Doodle is attributed to the 132nd birthday of Gideon Sundback (April 24, 1880 – June 21, 1954).  Soundback was a Swedish-American electrical engineer who is most commonly associated with his work in the development of the zipper.

So, how important is the zipper?  Well, I do not have to answer that because you just have to imagine.  Imagine if our bags, wallets, pants and other things don't have a zipper?  Now, you got the idea of how important this person is and why he deserves a Zipper Google Doodle.
