Google Logo and Doodle Celebrates Thomas Edison's 164th Birthday


Google is celebrating the 164th birthday of one of the greatest inventors and scientist that ever lived, Thomas Alva Edison. February 11, 2011 is hist 164th birthday and Google Doodle today is featuring a special logo just for him.

Thomas Edison had been one of the most outstanding inventor in history. He holds 1,093 patents in the United States alone, and also has patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Edison's invention includes a stock ticker, a mechanical vote recorder, a battery for an electric car, electrical power, recorded music and motion pictures.

He also contributed to the concept and implementation of electric-power generation and distribution to homes, businesses, and factories – a crucial development in the modern industrialized world. His first power station was on Manhattan Island, New York.

One of his well-known invention however which had sparked the industrial and modern age is his invention of the light bulb as well as his invention of the phonograph and the motion picture camera. Edison was called "The Wizard of Menlo Park" and later on it was named Edison, New Jersey.
