Happy Birthday Google: The Number 1 Search Engine

Happy Birthday Google: The Number 1 Search Engine - Google is celebrating its 12th anniversary this month but technically Google is already 13 years old. While the company was founded on September 4, 1998 its domain Google.com was registered on September 15, 1997. The registration was made since Google was previously under Standford University at google.stanford.edu.

Google's original name was not Google but "BackRub" since it involved checking the backlinks of sites, however the authors Larry Page and Sergey Brin believed that the word Google is way better. This term comes from a misspelling of the word "googol", the number one followed by one hundred zeros.

Google literally means the vast the amount of information the search engine was to handle and indeed Google achieved that.

Google became one of the most successful companies and also achieved number one status in terms of its search engine. Google Chrome, the Google created browser is also gaining popularity.

So a salute to Google, who also revolutionized online advertising through Google Adsense. Happy Birthday Google!
