The American Tops Weekend Box Office

The American tops the Weekend Box Office chart for September 3-5, 2010. Besides "The American", there are two other films which enters the Weekend Box Office Top 10, "Machete" and "Going the Distance."

The American stars George Cloney as an assassin who goes on a roller coaster ride in performing tasks assigned to him. It is a spy-thriller that might be compared to the James Bond 007 series. Machete which comes at number two revolves around the same general plot as The American, however this film has Lindsay Lohan to add curiosity to its story.

Going the Distance which ranks at number 5 stars real-life sweethearts Justin Long and Drew Barrymore. The film revolves around a couple who try to maintain a long-distance relationship, one in New York City, New York and the other in San Francisco, California.

Other notable movies in the list is "The Expendables" which stars Sylvester Stallone ranked number 6 and earned a total of $92,218,000 in 5 weeks. The longest in the current Weekend Box Office is "Inception" which is now at number 9. Inception's total gross now reaches $277,123,000. Inception is ranked 47 in terms of All Time Domestic Gross Sales Record.
