M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender Review and Critical Reception

Even before the movie was released, a negative air surrounds M Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender review. However, seeing the trailer of The Last Airbender seems to put some hopes on this big screen adaptation of the award winning animated series about "Avatar: The Legend of Aang."

Initial feedbacks about the movie points to a general path of negative reviews worldwide. On Rotten Tomatoes alone, M Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender was given a very low 5% score from 44 reviews. This is probably one of the lowest ratings a movie can have at Rotten Tomatoes.

Many were sad that the director and producers of The Last Airbender did not maximize the source of the plot for their film. Critics says that the movie relatively fails in comparison to the original. Those who have already seen the movie says that despite flashy special effects, The Last Airbender squanders the potential of its popular source material on an incomprehensible plot, laughable dialogue, and a joyless sense of detachment.

Another review site, Metacritic gave it a lowly 25 based on about 21 reviews. This review place the movie at fourth worst just behind Killers, The Bounty Hunter, and Furry Vengeance.

If that's not the worst, Roger Ebert a reliable film and movie critic only game The Last Airbender a half star rating. "The Last Airbender bores and alienates its audiences," says Ebert. One of the mishandling Ebert says is the poor use of 3D.

Among the key actors in the film adaptation includes Noah Ringer as Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara, Jackson Rathbone as Sokka, and the very popular star from " Slumdog Millionaire", Dev Patel as Prince Zuko.

The film despite the negative feedbacks might still rake some earnings because of the avid following it has. The sad part however is the fact that fans might get really disappointed with the movie.
