Couple's Retreat and Paranormal Activity Tops Box Office

"Couples Retreat" starring Vince Vaugn and Jon Favreu emerged as this weeks top box office with a debut of $35.3 million.  It was a surprise for Universal Pictures who had just an optimistic outlook of $20 million.  This surprise came after Universal sacked top managers Marc Shmuger and David Linde and replaced them with Adam Fogelson and Donna Langley.

Upon further scrutiny it can be said that "Paranormal Activity" was even more popular than this weeks number 1 movie.  The movie averages $44,163 per theater compared with $11,780 for "Couples Retreat"
