Wheel of Time: Eye of the World Movie

With all the success of epic fantasy movies like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings it seems my prayers had been answered. Just as I check and found out that Warcraft will soon be a movie... here comes another great news... the Wheel of Time Saga movie will now be a reality. Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. They’ll start working on adapting the first book in the bunch, The Eye of the World soon. It’s being produced in part, by the company that made graphic novel versions of the story, Red Eagle Entertainment.

Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will produce for Red Eagle Entertainment, which published graphic novel adaptations of Jordan’s books.

The movie is in what would be considered pre-production. There hasn’t been any casting, and there almost certainly isn’t a finished script. There is an IMDB profile up for the movie, but there is no information listed as of yet, save for a 2011 release date, which may or may not be accurate.

The whole Wheel of Time Series in which I have most of the books contains a total of Twelve Books not including prequel and the last of which is set for release this year by author Brandon Sanderson since Jordan died 2008.

The series tells the story of a boy named Rand al’Thor, who grows up with the rare ability to tap the “source”, a mysterious and incredible power. He and his friends are taken from their village by an Aes Sedai (their name for a female wizard) and head off for a date with destiny. The whole thing takes place in an alternate world which, particularly in the first book Eye of the World, blatantly borrows a lot of its best ideas from other fantasy literature, Lord of the Rings in particular.

So braze yourselves folks for a new and greater epic fantasy will soon unfold on the big screen.

Meanwhile while waiting for the real movie here are two Wheel of Time fan movie and video trailers for everyone.
