Written By David D'Angelo on Monday, April 14, 2008 | 4/14/2008

It is quite surprising to see that there is a magazine which ranks the top 50 among the most powerful gays and lesbians in America. The magazine OUT had recently released its top 50 amng this circle. Among those familiar are Ellen DeGeneres, an American stand-up comedian, actress, and currently the Emmy Award-winning host of the syndicated talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show; Rosie O’Donnell an eleven-time Emmy Award-winning American comedian, television talk show host, author, and film, television, and stage actress. She has also been a magazine editor and continues to be a celebrity blogger, LGBT civil rights activist, television producer and collaborative partner in the LGBT family vacation company R Family Vacations; and Barney Frank an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives among others.

Out Magazine explains the current rankings in their Magazine...

We are fascinated by power, how people get it, wield it, and lose it. To create our second list, we restricted our candidates to those who are gay and living and working primarily in North America—sorry again, Elton. The rankings were determined by scoring each candidate on these criteria: (1) political clout; (2) pop-cultural resonance; (3) individual wealth; and (4) current personal profile. - Out Magazine
