In the middle of Storm "Hanna", another storm is ongoing. Today in a press conference together with her family Chairman Benjamin Abalos announced that he is resigning from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) due to allegations that he offered millions of pesos in bribes for the passage of the $329.4-million contract with China's ZTE Corp.
The development comes after two congressmen in the House of Representatives signed an impeachment complaint against Abalos.

Is this courage or a strategy?

Abalos reason is to separate himself from the office so the commission would not be affected. The chairman also added his "resignation will negate the accusations that the administration is out to protect me and my incumbency." "I am not admitting guilt on any wrongdoing,"

But many people thinks, Abalos sacrificed himself to ensure or to protect personalities pointing towards MalacaƱang. Is the House Speaker going to inhibit himself in this controversy?
